An in-depth numerical analysis of the impact of Nepal's educational policy on the country's socioeconomic mobility

Abstract

The intersection of educational policy and socioeconomic mobility has emerged as a critical area of inquiry in both social sciences and quantitative disciplines. This study conducts a rigorous numerical analysis of how educational policies influence socioeconomic mobility over time, integrating mathematical modeling with economic and sociological data. By employing finite difference methods and regression-based numerical simulations, the research assesses the degree to which access to quality education and educational reforms affect income mobility, intergenerational poverty, and labor market outcomes. Using a cross-national panel dataset from the OECD and UNESCO covering the years 1980–2018, the analysis calibrates and validates policy impact metrics against indicators such as the Gini coefficient, education expenditure per capita, and tertiary enrollment ratios. The study reveals statistically significant improvements in mobility where long-term education investment policies were implemented, with elasticity of intergenerational income correlation declining by up to 0.15 in nations with sustained policy interventions. These findings underscore the measurable role of structured educational policy in breaking cycles of poverty and enhancing upward mobility. The research further discusses the limitations of numerical modeling in the social policy context and offers implications for future policy design and implementation.
